Book: The Story of Beautiful Girl by Rachel Simon
Everyone loved the book and agreed it was a page turner, hard to put down.
1. Cameron Hughes Lot 241 - 2009 Syrah Grenache Mourvedre. This was many of the girls second favorite. $10.00 in CARuby Red with a dark crimson center. This wine integrates cocoa covered rum Raisinette with pure black fruit. Silken tannins thrum in a harmonious chorus. Bright framing acidity is backed by a beautifully complex tannic structure for a long, complex finish.
2. Ironstone 2010- Vintners Cabernet Franc $10.00 in CAThe nose is full of bright berry fruit and toasty vanillas. On the palate, flavors include cherry, raspberry with oak undertones. I felt it was too tannic with a tart after taste.
3. Menage a Trois - 2009 California $7.49 in CA! Laura threw in this past favorite to see where it would rank and it was rated #1 by the group!!
4. Highway 12 - 2008 Red Blend (Sonoma County)With its vibrant, primary fruit flavors and gritty tannins, it tastes like a wine to age, except that it won’t develop—it doesn’t have the overall balance. So give it a good airing, and enjoy the array of blackberries, cherries, bacon and sweet oak now. Pretty good price for a wine this interesting and well-crafted. - I felt it was again very tannic with an astringent finish...
Pre-Tasting: Ironstone Symphony Obsession 2010Again bought in CA so if you ever see it in UT let everyone know!!
Ironstone's Obsession has youthful aromas that are markedly floral. Extremely drinkable, this lusciously brilliant and fanciful wine is full of fruit flavors, and finishes crisp and clean.
